Open House Theatre raises the curtain

Vienna Review
Oct 27, 2012

Vienna’s new English-speaking theatre is all set for its first season. The newly established company will build on the work of the International Theatre, and launches in December with a production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at the KIP Theater im Café Prückel, continuing the International’s tradition of annually performing this festive classic. The 2012/2013 season is a medley of classic and modern British theatrics, including an adaptation of John Fowles’ novel The Collector, and Laurel & Hardy (Dick & Doof) by Tom McGrath.

The company’s Shakespeare-in-the-Park series concludes the season. Each year, a different Shakespeare play will be staged in an outdoor location, performed in both English and German on alternating nights in July and August. A Midsummer Night’s Dream awaits at the end of the first season. See TVR Kaffeehaus with Eric Lomas, p. 32 of October 2012 issue.
