One of Vienna’s oldest underground lines, the U1, will be partially closed from 7 July until 26 August between Reumannplatz and Schwedenplatz, due to urgently needed maintenance.

Opened in 1978 and extended in 1980 and 2006, the red-line is Vienna’s prime route, as it connects the city centre with Kagran in the North, and Favoriten in the South.

Public transport operator Wiener Linien has set up two temporary tram services, 66 and 68, operating between Favoriten and the city centre. However, the transit time is likely to increase by up to 20 minutes.

During the summer, Wiener Linien will be providing up-to-date information at a special info-bus on Schwedenplatz, or by phone at (01) 7909-100.
