Neo-Nazis convicted

Seven members of "Object 21", a right-wing extremist group in Upper Austria were sentenced to up to six years in prison on 5 November, after pleading not guilty of "re-engagement with National Socialism", which was established as a crime in 1947.

According to police surveillance since 2009, Object 21 has terrorised the region in Attnang-Pucheim for years with violent attacks, weapon and drug dealing, and illegal prostitution.

Video evidence showed the members giving "Sieg Heil" salutes at the group’s meeting place, a farmhouse known as the "Arms Factory".

Jürgen W. and Manuel S., the primary defendants, received four- and six-year jail sentences, the others received 18 months to two and a half years.  All aim to appeal the ruling.
