To mark the 200th anniversary of his birth, the exhibition takes visitors through the composer's life and work. Behind the "Strauss" brand was a family empire: his brothers Josef and Eduard, his mother Anna and Strauss' wives managed it. The exhibits include letters, autographs, newspaper articles, original costumes, sheet music and personal possessions. One chapter is dedicated to the Viennese suburban stages where the composer became a star. The wedding register is also exhibited here for the first time: In order to conceal Strauss' Jewish origins, the Nazis forged this document.
