In his early DJ years, the Italian Gigi D'Agostino made it his unique selling point to slow down the techno beat. One day, he started layering kitschy melodies of longing over it. The result was a sticky, functional mixture. Speaking of which: you didn't necessarily have to be intoxicated on vodka-bull to enjoy hits like "L'amour toujours", "La Passion" or "Bla Bla Bla". But it didn't hurt either, so that the techno crooning based on Italodisco could be properly appreciated. The interesting thing about the man is that, apart from his silly captain's costume, he is a mystery. Hardly anything is known about Gigi D'Agostino. He is not very active on social media. After years of silence, he posted a picture of himself with a walking frame at the end of 2021. Now he seems to be fit again. For a while, lookalikes performed under his name in clubs, but the original is likely to manifest itself physically in the Stadthalle. The current tour is all about love. It is well known that German neo-Nazis tried to desecrate Gigi's music. Now the maestro is taking it back. He told Der Spiegel that it is "about a wonderful, great and intense feeling that unites people. It is love."
