The general and the writer are waiting for the general. They talk about a time that is coming to an end. As in Chekhov, a forest must be cut down. The Burgtheater's homage to Thomas Bernhard's 90th birthday in February finds its premiere somewhat belated. Lucia Bihler, briefly in-house director at the Volksbühne Berlin, directs in lacquer-and-leather red. Because of the images alone, this evening will not be forgotten in a hurry.
