After the death of their father, the Poodle twins grow up with different foster families: Gilbert with strictly religious apple farmers in the country, Grace with a childless couple in Canberra. Unhappy as she is without her brother, the narrator of the clay animation film "Memoir of a Snail" by Oscar winner Adam Eliott withdraws into her proverbial snail shell. Until she finds a motherly friend in an eccentric 80-year-old called Pinky, who looks like Iris Apfel.
