"Ferdinand Adler (1903-1952) was a violinist from Vienna who fled from the Nazis to Shanghai. There, Mingliang Sheng (1932-2023), who had escaped the Japanese invaders as a child, became one of his students. Today, the story of the two unfolds through their adult children, Christina and Fang, who meet for the first time. Paul Rosdy's sensitive documentary makes the historical and personal lines visible - also through the use of exciting archive material - and sheds light on the Jewish exile from a Chinese perspective."
