A pregnant wife from Long Island picks up a football player with a head injury as a hitchhiker on her trip through the States. On the way, he tells her the story of the rain people who dissolve when they cry. Beautiful, slow, superbly acted by Shirley Knight, James Caan and Robert Duvall!
