In addition to its exotic name, "Gilda" also has an exotic setting, namely Buenos Aires. The gangster Ballin Mundson rules the underworld there. He also owns Gilda. Mundson takes Johnny Farrell in and makes him his right-hand man. He shouldn't have done that, because Johnny once had an affair with Gilda. In one of the most famous scenes in film history, she dances a striptease for him and sings "Put the blame on mame, boys".
