For more than 80 years, the Solé family has been cultivating a peach orchard, but now the lease is expiring and the trees are to make way for solar plants. "In 'Alcarràs - The Last Harvest', Carla Simón tells the story of a family whose identity is threatened, of a changing world and the crisis of small-scale agriculture. A wonderful ensemble of local amateur actors carries the drama set in the titular Catalan town. Carefully choreographed, Simón and cinematographer Daniela Cajías give space to all the characters, showing their work, celebrations, conflicts, their cohesion, surrounded by a gentle summer landscape.
