They still exist in Estonia, the smoke saunas that have been declared an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by Unesco. In Anna Hints' documentary, women of all ages and social classes meet in such a sweat lodge deep in the snow-covered forest to take a sauna together. Here they exchange stories, tell of fears and loves, of sexual assaults and unbearable birth pains. An almost mystical work in its intimacy, the film looks with empathy at female life experience and makes the healing effect of feminine solidarity tangible.
