Kimitachi wa dô ikiru ka

Polyfilm
How nice that Hayao Miyazaki has changed his mind again with his announced retirement. The first images of the trailer for his new film immediately evoke vivid memories of (the look of) "Princess Mononoke" and "Chihiro's Journey to Wonderland". Set in the 1940s, the story with autobiographical overtones centers on young Mahito Maki, traumatized by the Japanese Pacific War that cost his mother her life. His father marries his dead wife's younger sister, and the family flees Tokyo for the countryside. Mahito has a hard time integrating into the new environment. Then he meets a strange gray heron, who shows him a magical world.
