Koffie was regarded as a sorcerer, which is why his mother disowned him. When he returns to Lubumbashi 15 years later, accompanied by his future wife Alice, to pay his dowry, he is once again confronted with the prejudices and mistrust of his fellow men. "Omen", the feature film debut of Belgian-Congolese rapper Baloji, is about tradition and modernity, identity and reconciliation in a society still marked by the ravages of colonialism. The kaleidoscopic narrative repeatedly takes off into the phantasmagorical to interweave dreams, hallucinations, musical interludes and performance art into an enigmatic whole.
