As far as the plot is concerned, Ceylan's new three-and-a-half-hour epic has little to offer, as we have come to expect from the Turkish director: It's about a trio of teachers, each struggling differently with their state-imposed positions in the deep provinces, as they sit around and talk in changing constellations. But what happens in the long, meandering dialogs is unrivaled in terms of richness of story and nuance. (Barbara Schweizerhof)
