The story of the poet Benjamin Agusan (Roeder Camanag), who returns to his hometown of Padang after years of exile in Russia, where he finds a destroyed world. Made in the immediate aftermath of the devastation caused by the clash of Typhoon Durian and the cold mudslides of the Mayon volcano in the Philippines in 2006, "Death in the Land of Encantos" is an equally disturbing and moving cross-section of the Lav Diaz long-term project.
